H.E.L.P - High Emotion Level Presence - staying present in emergencies aftermath.

H.E.L.P trains people to help facilitate their community members to tackle some of the high emotions that are experienced as a result of disasters. This helps people emotionally move on as part of the disaster recovery processes after the immediate crisis is over.  Training staff to help community members who have gone through natural disasters and move through a rebuilding stage which directly engages with emotional responses.

The rebuilding stages of denial, grieving, anger, forgiveness, hope and action are acknowledged with group work allowing participants to permit this 6-stage process to be experienced.  The broad principles of group therapy are used in this facilitation engagement so understanding in this area is useful for those attending.
