Purpose

Public Art: who is the public and where is the public engaging?

Working with a team of flexible consultants, including photographers, designers and community engagement specialists MS Art deliver public art strategies to engage residents and surrounding communities, and create a sense of place with other deliverables.  The conduit bringing together stakeholders including council, developers, artists, architects to bring artistic ideas into tangible fruition. 


CONCEPT 

Helping you understand the ideas, juggle the words and produce a document that others can then discuss. A public art strategy covers many things including community interests, briefing and scoping, artist engagement, concept design, planning, commissioning, fabrication, keeping on top of deadlines, documentation.  Taking a public artwork from concept and commissioning through to creation and installation.

Claremont Underpass: ​an art portal to the Past and Present

Mariyon Slany is a strategic creative thinker who has competencies across a diverse field – EQ, Aesthetics/Visual Arts, Project Management, Community Engagement & Professional Training and Facilitation along with Board level experience in governance, strategic planning, brand & risk assessment.  Mariyon’s credentials include working in the arts sector (visual/performing) for 25 years - as a Consultant for State Govt & FROLIC, Curator (Artbank, ‘Pragma, Peril and Passions’) & commissioner (City of Subiaco, METRONET) and as a Cultural Contributor (Artbank, Arts Hub writer, MPAC, Regional Arts, Radio RTR & performer).  Mariyon provided services to State government as part of Percent for Art Scheme for 11 years, Federal Government Artbank for 4 years as well as City of Kwinana’s Public Art Panel. In parallel work in arts/place activation including projects with PIAF based on multi-disciplinary studies in art, writing & music.
